Historically Famous AlicesSt Alice was a twelfth-century Cistercian nun from Brussels, who contracted leprosy. It was an immense tragedy for her because she had to accept solitary confinement, and was unable to drink Communion wine from the chalice. Her life and faith, sustained by visions, was described by a member of her community and Alice was canonized for her patience in suffering |
