Historically Famous ClementsThe Clement from whom all other St Clements take their name was the fourth Pope, coming after Peter, Linus and Cletus. St Irenaeus tells us that '[Clement] had seen and consorted with the blessed apostles'; he may be the Clement mentioned in Philippians 4:3, but we do not know very much about his life. What we do have is his letter to the Corinthians, dealing with the troubled affairs of their Church.
