Historically Famous Gabriels

When people want to suggest someone who is absolutely perfect, they often invoke the archangel Gabriel who does, of course, have the edge on most saints simply by virtue of being an archangel. It was Gabriel who announced God's plan of action for the salvation of the world to the Virgin Mary, but he had previously appeared to Daniel and to Zachariah, and at the birth of Christ he led the angels in their exultant Gloria in excelsis Deo! Because of this, Gabriel is thought of as the communicator in excelsis and is the patron of all who work in communications. He is also honoured by Muslims as the one who dictated the Koran to Mohammed.
