Historically Famous QuentinsSt Quentin was martyred sometime around 300 in the French town that bears his name, although nothing certain about him is known. Some think that he was the son of a Roman senator and was an officer in the Roman army before forsaking. his wealth and position to become a missionary to Gaul. The symbols associated With him all refer to the many tortures he was said to have suffered but why he is patron of bombadiers, chaplains, locksmiths, tailors and porters is a mystery. Perhaps he should be a patron of all prisoners, for it is said that he was once released from prison by an angel. |
