Getting the most from my Red Hearts Wedding Anniversary Pillar Candle.

Our Red Hearts Wedding Anniversary Pillar candles have now been discontinued we have however introduced a large selection of candles suitable for any anniversary.

As with all pillar candles are designed to hold the wax within the candle. As the candle burns down into the centre it results in a lovely glow.

Before lighting, remove any packaging. If you follow these recommendations it should not be necessary to remove the personalisation on the candle. If, however, the sidewalls have started to be consumed it is recommended to remove the personalisation film.

When you first light your pillar candle, let the pool of wax reach within 6-7mm of the outside edge, then extinguish. This will set the candle’s “memory” for all future burns.

Avoid continuous short burning times; this will cause the candle to tunnel, resulting in a drowned wick and wasted wax. Pillars are designed to burn for long periods of time: at least 3-4 hours each time you light it. If you prefer burning your candle for a shorter time try Candlesticks.

Instead of blowing out the candle, dunk the wick into the wax pool and straighten. This ensures an easier relight and prevents the wick from smoking. When you light your candle, light the base of the wick not the tip.

Before lighting always trim the wick to around 6-7mm (¼ Inch.) Keep wax pool free of debris. This can clog the wick. If the flame is too large, it means the wick needs a trim. Keeping up with your wick maintenance will extend the life of your candle to its maximum potential.

Extinguish the candle by dunking the wick into the wax pool, trim the wick, straighten and relight. If a ‘carbon cap’ globule forms on the tip, trim the wick.

If dripping or smoking occurs, extinguish the candle, allow the wax to harden and trim the wick. Also check for air movement like a draft or vent nearby.

Always place pillar candles on a heat-resistant surface, never directly on furniture or counter tops. We recommend that you do not burn your pillar candle in a hurricane lamp or similar enclosed candle holder. They could hold in the heat and the pillar may become soft or melt through the sides and spill wax. The ‘chimney’ of the hurricane lamp may also encourage your pillar candle to smoke.

You should stop using a candle when the flame is approximately 12mm (½ Inch) from the bottom. This layer of wax helps distribute the heat of the candle evenly and acts as a buffer between the flame and the surface the candle is on.

Hopefully the above will ensure you get the best use for your Red Hearts Wedding Anniversary Pillar Candle. Moreover you’ll get to enjoy whatever celebration you use it in without worry over it’s use.
