Tin

Tin is the traditional anniversary gift symbol for the 10th Wedding Anniversary. Tin was first produced in approximately 3000 B.C., when it was smelted from naturally occurring deposits found in high mountain areas. Tin became an important metal when it was discovered that it could be alloyed with copper to produce bronze, an alloy more durable than either of its components.

Tin is still used today as a coating on other materials and as a corrosion-resistant material for many applications in industry and science. For example, tin cans are made of tin-plated steel; tin foil is used for food packaging; and tin lithography involves printing on a hardened surface of tin-coated zinc or lead.

A tin can filled with candy or other small gifts makes a great 10th Wedding Anniversary gift idea!
