Fuchsia is the appropriate flower symbol for the 3rd Wedding Anniversary.

The fuchsia plant is a long-lived perennial that normally blooms in late winter or early spring. In some cases, they may bloom several times throughout the year. This plant has been known to grow up to 4 feet tall with leaves that are dark green in colour and narrow in shape. The flowers of this plant can range from light pink to deep purple, depending on the variety. They have five petals and look like small roses when fully opened.

The fuchsia plant is native to South America and was named after Leonhart Fuchs who discovered it in 1542 during a trip to Chile. It has been cultivated since its discovery and was used as an ornamental plant until 1846 when it was first used as an edible fruit by people living in South America.
