The 60^th Anniversary was not associated with a wedding anniversary symbol or theme until Queen Victoria’s Jubilee in 1897. The Queen celebrated with a diamond theme and thus people started celebrating their 60^th Wedding Anniversary calling it the Diamond Wedding.

How to celebrate the 60th Anniversary

Six decades of marriage deserves a wonderful celebration, however you must think about what the couple would like. Major factors like their age and health need to be taken into consideration.

If the couple are super social then you might think about a surprise party, or a garden barbeque with lots of friends and family. However, they may just like a small celebration with the family and may prefer a meal at a restaurant or hotel.

They may even just want to celebrate on their own and you could gift them a night or two at a hotel including a romantic meal or an afternoon tea. Make sure there is a bottle of champagne.
